Overview

Integrated closet is a wardrobe organization app that focuses on helping the user know what they have, as well as be more mindful of what they have.

My role

  • UX designer/researcher, so I did things from initial research, to prototyping, to testing.

Tools Used

Design Challenge

  • Deciding what aspects to add while also maintaining minimalism itself.
  • Brainstorm how to motivate users to initially input their closet into the app

A handful of the potential users I interviewed expressed wanting to use my app if I do end up bringing it to life.

Research

Primary

I interviewed 6 individuals that were chosen based on my screener.
Screener qualifications: Individuals with over 100 items in their closet
Varying quantities of the estimated percentage of wear of their closet
I also wanted to know why people forget what they own and how often they realize this?

Secondary

Current apps in the market are nice, but have a digital closet focus, or creating outfit focus. While I do want that also as a focus, I want people to be more aware of their footprint.

Other ideas considered during the research phase:

  • How much they buy at retail vs. second hand,
  • Calculate how much they are saving in terms of water, resources, etc.
  • Encourage more sustainable brands

Personas

The main difference between these two personas is their priorities on their clothing.

  • Alexa’s wardrobe is part of her daily appearance, so she has the motivation to keep things in order.
  • Sophia has scrubs as her daily uniform, so keeping clothing organized isn't high on her to-do list.

User Flows

These userflows focus on the red routes of adding things to the online closet (first userflow) as well as picking an outfit (second userflow). The beginning is similar as it will lead to starting as a guest (which I decided to omit later on for saving reasons) or a login.

Wireframes

The flow of the app will be relatively simple and mostly linear. I focused on making it straightforward so that the user is able to do what they need to do, as it is for the purpose of organizing and making their life easier.

Mood Board

Because this is an organization app, I wanted to focus on making the app minimalistic to align with that sense of cleanliness and organization. The earthy tones are nice on the eyes and keeping only the text more decorative allows for balance while also keeping it clean.
